Today the world celebrated the life of a man to never be forgotten. Peter Orville Honrud (my great-grandfather) said goodbye last Wednesday April 7 after losing a struggle with pneumonia. We were begging to think he was invincible a few days shy of 99. My grandpa was an incredible man who lived through so many technological advances, i watched a video today that revealed that when the airplane was firstĀ beginning to be seen his friends and him would watched to see how close to the ground they would get without crashing.
He was a strong Norwegian who in grade school would tell secrets to friends in his first language. I remember a couple years ago visiting grandpa in his house, bringing him McDonalds and asking how to say the weather is nice in Norwegian. He never skipped a beat and was clued in to all the latest information regarding finances and politics. I will remember my grandfather asĀ the harmonica playing, joke telling, prankster, who always had candy in his pocket, tobacco in his mouth, with the smartest head on his shoulders. He is a brave man for the risks he has taken and working ambition and i thank him for all he has done for my family. Grandpa is one of the biggest reasons I am able to go to school and i promise one day i will graduate from a university and make him more proud than he could ever be. I love you grandpa, thank you for everything
